With Child

For the series "with child" Griet draws inspiration from her experiences as a new mother. In her search for this new identity, she distances herself from the all-important place occupied by the child and places the mother at the center of a series of self-portraits. The claim the child makes on the mother's time is reflected in the methodology Griet uses as a photographer. Each image was set up and recorded with the self-timer within a time frame of no more than 15 minutes. She invariably chooses the setting of her own home and only uses elements that can also be found there.
