<집은 어디에나 있고 자주 아무 데도 없다 Home Is Everywhere and Often Nowhere> (2019-ongoing) speaks of different forms of placeless-ness experienced every day. Through the images of metaphors, the series attempts to share the inconsistent perception of home -- even when we are inside of our home. I focused on specific emotions at first. It began as a project to portray dwindling experiences of migrants. However, while doing interviews with colleagues, viewers and readers, I’ve come to realize that many of us, not just migrants, experience a transient sense of home today. That many of us cope with a sporadic sense of belonging. This takes place among the rapidly moving culture, lack of intimacy, fragile identities and proximity to platforms where we are constantly seen. As the work progressed, the sight of home changed for me as well. Home moved from “a physical place we reside with loved ones” to “the state of being abled without consequences.” Where and what is the home for you?
