2019, September 21st. I shot this group of works in Battery Park, New York.
Same angle, same afternoon, but different human being .
Before shooting, I was walking around downtown New York for a long time. There were so many things in my mind that I couldn’t solve it and I didn’t know how to solve it. Finally, I bought a cup of latte and went to the park. I started to observe everyone who walked in fronton me. They have different skin tones, different dresses and different languages that made me interested in them. I began to imagine myself as a detective, trying to identify their profession by dressing. No doubt, I can only tell that most of them are tourists. Such an interesting afternoon.
I have never forgotten how I felt at the time. I remember the faint smell of coffee in my mouth and the fragrance of grass in the air. These are important memory clues that remind me of my feelings at the time. Especially when mankind is being threatened by COVID-19, I miss those free and beautiful times very much.
