Beauty emanates from the vibration created by the contrast between unlikely pairings of objects, both life-worn and pristine. They bring their own stories and histories to the stage. When the superficial and unnecessary is stripped away the collaboration can begin. For me a good still-life is like an entire play condensed into just a few seconds. Objects become actors, while tables and pedestals become stages.
These still-life images are created in a 10'x6' basement room with a small north facing window. A roughly plastered white wall reflects the light that sneaks in from the world outside as it exists at the time of exposure.
