Darkness and light, tethered, each to the other, by hours that tick away, silent between them. I have found a comfortable, space photographing the world around me and doing it within the boundaries of black and white. I am fascinated by the way light always finds its way inside the deepest shadows. It forces its way through the cracks in a window or blankets a stormy evening, covering everything except a Lilly, standing tall and bright in the twilight.
I have entered five stand alone, black and white photographs. Although they are all different, the point was to end up with a stripped down photograph, playing the light against the darkness, one or the other molding itself to where it must remain, allowing its nemesis to shine, until time slips by, bringing out a new shadow, a new beam of light, waiting to be explored, waiting to be mastered.
My name is Lyne Beringer, a 59 year old photographer and writer from Fairbanks Alaska. I consider myself a novice, although I dedicate hours and hours of time in pursuit of perfecting my craft, often using my photographs as inspiration for my writing. I have a page on Facebook showcasing my photos, and I have had my work featured in galleries in Greece, Victoria Canada, and Germany. I also participate in online contests, allowing me the opportunity to grow and challenge myself. I can’t think of anything else I would rather be obsessed with, because a picture really does paint a thousand words.
