Baltimore, nicknamed “Charm City” for its many attractions and friendly residents. Bill Evans, from W.B. Done & Co, who coined the the phrase, put it most accurately:
“Baltimore has more history and unspoiled charm tucked away in quiet corners than most American cities out in the spotlight.”
Baltimore has always flirted with the unconventional, and given its bohemian roots as a blue-collared, maritime town, its “charm” comes from its humble origins. As one of America’s oldest cities, it is known for its rich ethnic and maritime heritage, sense of history, fine food, and a rich, artistic community.
The photographs in this series give a sense of this unique community - the pride and joy found in everyday activities - from some of our smallest members, to artistic, to those that dare to push boundaries, to those that can find togetherness in the many outdoor activities offered only in Baltimore.
