As a wildlife photographer living in a city with little access to animals but an abundance of birds, bird photography has become my focus and specialty over the years.
When I think of birds the first thing that comes to mind is flight. Barring a few exceptions, flight is a characteristic birth right of a bird. The intricate design of feathers of all shapes and sizes woven together to make up a variety of wing spans is like nature’s art work. With this series, I want to highlight that art using my own art form of wildlife photography.
This series has been 4 years in the making. What made it particularly challenging was the fact that all these photos are shot in the wild where there is no room for orchestration. To bring focus to the wings and make them the center of every picture, to highlight their beauty against all surrounding distractions, I often had to wait for the right opportunity. The right bird, right wing position, in the right light and more importantly against the right background that I can work with. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I have enjoyed creating it.
