Looking After

This series responds to the uncertainty and anxiety of living with recurrent threats to basic safety and security, from a changing climate giving rise to a "new" season—fire season. Also, taking a reflective view of the aftermath, a weaving of lingering trauma and beauty, the preciousness and precariousness of life—not only human, but of the trees, deer, vultures, bobcats, and others who stand and walk near us and with us. These images capture an extended time, a repeated, cyclical time, a time set apart from "normal" life—a new season, though not necessarily a welcome one.
