"Work on Portraits" - 1st Selection

My "Work on Portraits" project is an intimate portrayal of subjects from contemporary Greek society. My models very often are born of parents of different nationalities; the link that binds all of them is the dialogue with their background (usually nature). My use of technology embraces multiple concepts and articulates images and themes associated with time/space, nature/culture, subject/object relationships, aesthetics, representation, memory and identity. My subjects appear to be actors in their own lives and they are in a constant dialogue with themselves, with the viewer and with their background, in a visual drama where I am taking the part of the director and producer. Ambiguity, self-awareness, expectation, questioning, duality are all concepts that derive from and rotate constantly like particles around the same nucleus, the human being. -ION
