Around noon on November 7, the networks and new agencies finally called the 2020 presidential election in favor of Joe Biden, after Pennsylvania’s 20 electoral votes put him over the 270-vote threshold. Within minutes, Philadelphia exploded in a powerful display of emotions and civic pride, with people from all over the city streaming toward City Hall, where they stood shoulder-to-shoulder but also across the barricades, exposing both unity and deep rifts that would continue to define the city life to this day.
