If Rembrandt were a photographer.

Like Rembrandt’s paintings, my photography series focuses on portraiture. In terms of my techniques and lighting inspiration, Rembrandt was my innovator. Like Rembrandt, I'm always looking to find new ways of conveying expression and as in Rembrandt's compositions, I explore the method of 'chiaroscuro' to create depth within the light and shadows. With Rembrandt as my inspiration, the photographs in my series mainly embody a small palette of colours. Similarly to how Rembrandt created self-portraits through the inconvenience of employing models for his subjects, I too have included some self-portraits within my series that were born due to the inconveniences and lack of model subjects we faced this year due to Covid-19.
