I like shooting hub cap reflections when there are few people around, but sometimes there aren't many hub caps either. So I found a reflective drying plate and carried it with me. I bent it to distort street scenes, shooting with my back toward the subject. I enjoy talking with strangers and usually ask people for street portraits. They usually agree. I noticed the "No U Turn" sign in the background as I was lining up the voting shot. At first I wanted to minimize it, but it reminded me of the Civil Rights era song, "Ain't Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me 'Round," so I centered it. I was so happy to cross paths with this couple a few months later. I only recognized the mask-less man because of his distinctive vest. I sent the couple a large scan so they could frame it. They had walked miles to the library, intent on hand delivering their ballots a day before the 2020 election. As a kid, I lost my dad in Vietnam, so this flag photo spoke to me personally (shot with Canon 77D and reflective plate). I like to shoot with a Nikon FE and 35mm lens.
