A closer look into the moments leading up to the storming of the U.S. Capitol building. Average, everyday Americans congregated on the National Mall on January 6, 2021, little did they know what was about to unfold, events that truly changed the course of history. Worried mother’s and conspiracy theorists alike, all drawn to Washington D.C. with the same purpose. What I found truly shocking is how many families with children attended that day. There were people from all over the racial and socioeconomic divide in attendance that morning socializing as if it were a normal day, not knowing what was in store. I will forever be haunted by these images and the sounds of sirens that went off all over the city as I escaped to safety in Virginia.
