Balinese Cremation Ceremony

The Balinese people bury their deceased loved ones. Every 5 years they hold a cremation ceremony. The remains, sometimes 2 or 3 generations, are unearthed and cremated in a lavish and rather costly communal ceremony that takes all day and all evening. It is a happy event that takes many months of preparation. Each 'lembu' (cow) accommodates all remains of one 'banjar' (village).
