SW

SW (work in progress) SW, the beginnings of an inchoate photographic novel, focuses on some of the macro and micro stories of the diverse people of SW London. Inspired by the novel NW by Zadie Smith this photographic series looks at interweaving narratives and chance encounters of ongoing life in the South West corner of the capital.  Cherry wants to be a model and has recently been signed a contract when she meets a photographer in a children's play area. They set out on a collaboration together. Zane is a mechanic who has been mixed up in a few dealings on the estate but wants to help his brothers. Sato has settled into life far from home and now makes green tea for comfort rather than for solace.  The birds, buildings and debris form the backdrop to SW, where the viewer is invited momentarily into the lives of its occupants but where life relentlessly carries on with or without the eye of an onlooker.
