Dead Water

In Ukrainian folklore and fairy tales «dead water» - heals the body, allows to find its integrity, but does not bring back to life. It is able to heal wounds, but not the soul. The «dead water» series is antithetical to this idea. It is about how water can restore the feeling of life. I have documented typical recreation places near the water in Ukraine. Two lakes is located within a radius of 5 km from the largest landfills in Kyiv region. Another lake, in 1970, was used for the construction of the Bereznyaki residential area and most of it was destroyed. Tributaries of the Dnipro River, which are not suitable for bathing in heat due to flowering water. A contradiction in which people wants to be closer to nature, but destructively interferes with the environment. Hundreds of thousands of people across the country are resting in places like this. In places where water restores a sense of life and freedom.
