The photographs are part of a photographic project with which I try to connect the urban plot of the area where I live in the city of Valencia (Spain) with its past. For reference, all photos are taken within a 1km radius around my home.
The city of Valencia is of Roman origin and until just 150 years ago it was surrounded by a wall. Along the northern part of the wall runs the river Turia.
The area where I live is located north of the city on the opposite bank of the Turia river. Historically, this area, outside the walls, has grown in the form of a suburb next to the orchards watered with the waters of the river.
For this reason, its peri-urban past has been very marked by the Turia river, historic roads, emblematic buildings and defining elements of the orchard landscape. However, many of these components that characterized the historical structure of the area have disappeared with the growth of the city. Others remain or have left their mark.
There are abundant studies on this environment, in different fields and both academic and informative, but certainly fewer use photography as the backbone of the subject matter.
