These photos were taken during the height of the pandemic in Tianjin, China, 2020. Tianjin was largely on the safe side, thanks to people diligently wearing masks and avoiding going out unless necessary. It had been, and is now again, very rare to move about anywhere in this city without encountering lots of people, but for a couple of months last spring, we rode in mostly empty subway cars and walked along nearly deserted roads on our daily walks. It was on these walks that I really got to explore my neighborhood and see it with new perspective.
