Groteske Selbstporträts

The impending climate catastrophe, the pandemic, armed conflicts in the world, the social upheavals - the world I live in seems to be changing radically. Real solutions for the various dilemmas humanity facing today aren’t in sight and that perplexed and depresses me. My coping mechanism to get through this extraordinary times of transition with fear, uncertainty, anger is to turn what happened around me and what I feel about it into creativity, into my especially form of photography, my grotesque self-portraits for an absurd world. For this series I am most influenced by the work of other conceptional photographers such as Martin Pudenz, Roger Ballen, William Wegman, Erwin Olaf, but also by Magical Realism and Surrealism.
