"Kataclysm_e" is a photographic work at the intersection of photo-reportage, dreamlike and anticipation. Through that project, we're aiming to picture humanity into the effects of a climatic cataclysm.
Thus, we anchor our project in reality in the environment that surrounds us: all our photos were taken in France, between 2020 and 2021, in inhabited cities, in regions visited. From the observations that we make, we seek to show that all the dysfunctions observable around us could probably be one component of a cataclysm that is unfolding.
We are following a character, the last human on earth, unless he's from the future? Alone, naked, decked out in an oxygen mask and neo-rock glasses, facing a capricious weather, he walks and notices, helplessly, the bruises of an Earth with arid landscapes, abandoned, polluted, in ruins and become hostile to humanity.
Through the prism of this character, everything we observe takes on a different dimension: the air, which would henceforth be unbreathable; stagnant water, certainly unfit for our consumption; the light, too strong, so we would need to protect our eyes everytime; dry nature, thirsty for lack of water; the struggle she is waging against her asphyxiation, to be reborn through the asphalt, and to destroy what we took from her to build for ourselves and ourselves only
There is a fight between the elements, a strong antagonism in which Humanity already seems to be defeated. Lost in a landscape too large for him, in the backlight of a too powerful sun, without protection surrounded by walls fallen into ruin, between two worlds, between two states, exterior and interior, heat and cold, shadow and light, he is in a quest for hope, and answers
If Mankind survived its excesses, what would be the conditions of its existence?
