My country, similarly to many others around the world, is going through a serious financial crises. As people in general are more and more interested in the material and financial world the consequences to the mood of many are considerable.
Modern life sets that happiness is conditioned to fame, to doing something extraordinary, to wealthy, to having fashionable material possessions, to being physically perfect and to being tuned full time to what is going on around the world. It is not easy!
There’s nothing wrong with people wish to live well, however what cannot be done is for someone to become physically and mentally slave of external objectives. Nowadays, most people have an intense and tough routine, with very little room for leisure. It’s essential that they find something that give them pleasure, be it at work or elsewhere, so that their motivation with life can be kept.
This project aims exactly at helping people to be more connected with the feelings’ world, since simple actions and emotional pleasures can make life lighter and better to live. Simple things may be the way for you to find yourself.
I started this Project with myself and some people who are closer to me. Throughout its development, I was introduced to new people who have become fond of my goal. I go on without a defined deadline to finish it as each person and story that I get to know keep me motivated to carry on.
The planning of this Project aims at leading both the viewer and characters of the photographs to introspection, to make a connection with their inner self and to discover how nice it is to have something to believe in.
Most of the photographed people have their eyes closed in a process of self observation, as if they were looking at themselves. They also invite the viewers to look more deeply at the photographed ones and make a connection with their feelings.
The use of black and white helps to avoid any kind of distraction which could be dissociated from the feeling.
The intense contrast drives the observer to the inner side of the observed and his/her feelings.
