In 2017, 82,684 cases of missing people were recorded according to the Brazilian Public Security Forum. On average more than 200 people disappear each day, it is even more worrying to know that between 2007 and 2017, 786,071 cases of disappearance were recorded throughout Brazil. A subject that, in turn, has been little discussed in the country, resulting in constant pain and anguish in countless families. Through the testimonies of the relatives themselves, it was noted that the dimension of these cases goes beyond stereotypes, social and economic issues, covering as much as part of the government and the responsible agencys, as well as the victims' own families. Fortunately, there are people who never consider the possibility of giving up for this cause, a cause that needs to be addressed and, in no way, stop believing in the hope that still prevails in the search to find loved ones again. This series is intended to impact the public, through manipulation, showing a reality, through the surreal that these families face daily, despite the “Absence” of the missing in the portraits, the feeling of longing and hope present in them is evidently visible.
