“You know, life fractures us all into little pieces. It harms us, but it's how we glue those fractures back together that make us stronger.” Carrie Jones, Entice
Broken promises, unfulfilled dreams, unmatched expectations form ones fractured experience. At one moment we face the choice – to wear this heavy fractured experience/“new me”, or to escape from it looking for ease, thus, loosing oneself.
The idea of the project is embodied in the dress made of old tiles of the Soviet times. The weight is more than 20kg. Tiles had been one of the key attributes of the Soviet Union. All the surroundings were tiled. Such uniformity annihilates any form of self-expression, dissolving identity.
I'm grateful to the artist Alis La Luna for creating this wonderful dress and being the model for this project.
