This series of digital photographs was conceived from a short story written by Laís Sambugaro, "Agony". The photographs are self-portraits taken in the rural area of the state of São Paulo, Brazil.
Agony, by Laís Sambugaro
"She lived in the eternal, eternally lying in a pile of light. She was the holder of an infinite glow that gilded all the eternity. As if she was made of mirrors, she shone with such an intense glow that it blurred the vision and distorted her body contours.
Until the deity, one day, decided to get up, in the agony of a marasmus that is known only to immortals.
The deity, then, descended from eternity and placed itself in the firmament, where lived all the people. It tinted the whole sky with gold and made men's eyes see farther away. Then, day and night were created. And the divinity saw time pass, in the agony known only to mortals."
