Lichen Series

Lichens are a symbiotic relationship between a fungus and a photosynthetic algae. Lichens are often used as an indicator of levels of pollution since they are very sensitive to their environment. The first image I took of a rock wall with colorful lichens struct me as abstract art Jackson Pollock has nothing on them!) and so I kept an eye out for additional images over the last ten years or so but thinking that they would quickly become somewhat redundant. In fact there was incredible diversity in the images and so the series has grown to almost 40. The images range from a few centimeters scale to nearly 100 meters.
