I believe that photography can serve a vital role in the preservation of historic structures, one of my passions. I've tried to use my photography as a way of highlighting these efforts. For example, this past year, I was brought in to photograph a grand stone Victorian mansion in Madison, NJ, with the purpose of capturing the mansion in a new light that the real estate photos hadn't done. Unfortunately, our efforts failed, purely because of pandemic costs. However, it brought a lot of attention to the structure, and it is not being demolished.
In the case of the photos I'm submitting here, these are captured at the Glen Alpin Estate in Harding, NJ. The future of this estate is unknown, as it now sits decaying each and every day more and more. One of the most unique aspects of it is the painted red stone work trim, as well as the red terra cotta tile roof. My adventure partner is my mom, and in the winter, she wears this iconic red coat. We were exploring the estate one day and I got the idea to do an isolated color composition, so I followed her around, snapping pictures of her exploring the estate. When editing, I highlighted the red in the images to provide a bold pop of color
