The photo explores a conversation between me and my grandfather. He stares into the many army figures that he has collected over the years in the darkness with the backlight of the display cabinet in front of him. We discuss life, the meaning of memory and what his hope are for his grandchildren.
"Grandad. Are you afraid of death?" He accepts his time is near its end as he grows older. "no" he replies. He continues "It is part of life, it is what we are all heading for and there is no way to avoid it". We continue our discussion into what it counts to be true death. "you aren't dead whilst you are remembered" he states.
