My work is made with the double exposure technique, which I have discovered recently. This series is so important for me since I have used melted photographies about what I like most: portraits, nature and animals. It is called ‘Double Reality’ due to the use of this technique of double exposure, which has allowed me to give my photographs a double meaning.
I have tried to express, in each of them, various sensations and feelings related to experiences that I have lived with different people throughout my life. Thus, every photograph is based on one or more important persons who, in one way or another, have left a mark on me. For instance, the photograph ‘Breathing’ is based on my sister (in fact, she is the model), since she is full of youth, colour and movement, and she lives the moment exhaling energy continuously. I wanted to capture that movement with her hair blowing; that colour with the ruby red of her lips and the golden hazelnut of her hair, also using as texture a photograph of trees to melt their leaves with her curls. Another example: the photograph ‘Pride’, which is based on my grandparents, who have been working hard all their life in order to be what they currently are: great persons who can walk along the street keeping their head held high due to everything they have done (and do) for their family; therefore, the texture of this image is a photograph of a geranium, since my grandparents’ courtyard is plenty of these flowers and this always remind me of them. I could continue with each of the photographs: ‘Believe In Yourself’ based on my mother, a tireless fighter who never gives up but should believe more in herself, being then when nothing can stop her; ‘Connection’ based on the different sincere and loyal friendly relationships that I have had during all my life; ‘Traveling’, which is a self-portrait which represents my dream of traveling all around the world taking photographs of everything I love; etc.
