I search for stories in water. And I’m particularly drawn to leaves, which so vividly evoke the passage of time.
In swampy spots, with generations of growth and decay, my images focus on the relationships between the richly textured surface of standing water, the things that pierce the surface, and the mysterious layers moving below. In more open water, I’m captivated by the ballet of trees and leaves dancing in the water.
With my camera, I weave “water tapestries” of these shifting elements, capturing their stories, bringing them together into one image. Light reflects color and illuminates patterns on the surface, but light and color also seem to emanate from deep within. Dreams and possibilities emerge.
