Portrait Awards 2015

Born in Lisbon, Rita Barros has lived in New York since 1980, where she studied Photography and started her artistic career. Her work lies on the borders between a documentary and a self-reflexive approach. Always starting from a stictly subjective point of view, she distinguished herself by a look upon realities and subjects such as the daily life at the mythical Chelsea Hotel, the September 11 attacks, the self-portrait or the moment within the photographic image.
