this project is about visualizing the loneliness of the (adult) man in metropoles. I photographed men on 2 days at only 2 locations in Frankfurt/Germany with the goal to illustrate, better visualize a certain behavioral pattern that I see with men especially in large cities getting lonely, even desperate when not finding the right place, home, or strong relations in time. starting with the strong, self-convinced, much sought after young man. continue with the man who is insecure on the next reasonable step. the man with a relation insecure whether that's the relation he's looking for. missed opportunities, maybe negative experiences - need a break thinking about what could be next. finding no real good, satisfying, and successful answer escaping into phantasy world, searching the right way. doesn't help either, talking monologs in the hope to ease, get relieve, unburden. but eventually, just getting tired.
as a landscape or city scape photographer can hardly change or arrange the scenery, I did not ask any person to "act" in any way. I first took the picture, then asked for permission. I see the role of a photographer more of a contemporary witness, not as stage or artistic director.
