The Roaring Twenty Project

The Roaring Twenty Project is a photo essay started in April 2021 to explore and showcase the effect of Covid-19 lockdown's on the lives of those working within the UK food & hospitality industry. The primary concept is to showcase the confusion, strength and resilience of industry figures through 20 ‘roaring’ photographic portraits (although ended up shooting more people) that will be arranged into a single image. I wanted it to be representative of the industry so it ranges from Michelin Starred chefs to cafe owners, organic farmer to pastry chef, food critic to bee keeper, food suppler to charity worker and many more. All images were shot (and some filmed and interviewed about their lockdown experience) using the same lighting set up and background to create a uniform look to the portraits.
