This series is the processing of our experiences of our joint performance trip to Brazil. During this time, the first Covid 19 cases came to Europe and shortly afterwards countries around the world closed their borders. The sudden vulnerability of humanity at the beginning of the pandemic caught us by surprise. We stood out from the crowd anyway because of Roland in a wheelchair. But now curiosity has turned to distrust. Shopping as a person with fair skin became increasingly difficult. The locals avoided people like us. Public transport stopped. The people at the airports rebelled against canceled flights. Scary enough. But I was responsible for a person with spastic paralysis and a severe speech disorder. Seeing nature act regardless of color, origin, disease was fascinating, terrifying and inspiring. Global Lockdown. When did that happen? We came home and quarantined. First spring bloomers grew. And I had to turn those feelings into images. 6 o'clock in the morning. Sunrise.
Look how beautiful he is.
It might feel voyeuristic, but you can! Long and intense. Every part of this body. Because he wants to be noticed and seen as he is. As something special, with its own aesthetics. He wants to be treated equally. And nature treats us all equally. But without evaluation. So why not us too?
