In order to control population growth, the Chinese government adopted the “only child” policy from the late 1980s to 2013. This policy stipulates that there can only be one child per family. My work "Sisters" explores the one-child policy.
As a person who has lived in this policy since childhood, it is difficult for me to objectively evaluate the quality of this policy. Because I have never experienced the feeling of having brothers or sisters. Sometimes I will be glad that I am the only child, because my parents gave me all their love. If I have brothers or sisters, the love I get, whether mentally or physically, may be reduced. But from another angle, if I have a brother or sister who grew up with me, my life should be much richer.
Because I don't know how to evaluate the one-child policy, I have encountered bottlenecks for a long time. I don't know what emotions I should pass through the work. During the time when I encountered the bottleneck, I collected a lot of information and asked some of my friends. One of the studies said that parents who are single children will tend to have only one child. Parents who have brothers or sisters tend to have multiple children. Because people will be more sympathetic to their own growing environment. I asked some of my elders who are not only children.
