I currently live in Canada - far from the place I used to call home while growing up as a child. It is inevitable that cultural differences, and values in Poland, are starkly visible to those who have had the opportunity to experience life in both places. This is a series of images of my great-grandmother, taken during an extended visit in Poland in 2019. This body of work focuses on the importance of family ties, and the link of positive mental health effects of loving interactions and human connection with individuals tied by blood. In addition, it touches on the importance of generational influences on individuals within families, the importance of the verbal passage of history, as well as the importance of feeling a connection and having an understanding of each individual's place of birth.
