Defacement explores the impact of the corona years on young people, the loss of identity, the fried brains, burning inside out, blurring self definition at a crucial age, while trying to carry on life as normal, on and on and on and on. It also touches on dazzle camouflage, in effect removing all facial expression, in the era of surveillance states. The face is either fully masked & becomes faceless, or the mask is deliberately inverted, for the mouth only to be seen...Still with a little sense of relief and recovery towards the end. The submitted work is a series I have done fast with my son, as a co-creation, in order to take part into this competition and it represents the odd years shared. I will probably fine tune the series at a later stage.
