This series of photographs is entitled "Goodnight Little One." It was tangentially inspired by the Victorian practice of death portraits of children. These birds were all found while walking through the streets of Philadelphia, a city I moved to during the pandemic. My compulsion to photograph them stems from my own fascination with the liminal space between life and death. For me, there is a beauty that lies in that space, a beauty that assuages my own grief after losing my father right before my move. These small and delicate birds are like messages from a place beyond the here and now.
