This project is part of an overall story about the decline of Christianity in the Middle-East. Burning Faith is the story of Egyptian Copte facing adversity from extremist muslim.
The violent breakup of pro-Morsi protests in Cairo on August 14, 2013, in which hundreds of supporters of the former Muslim brotherhood president were killed, ignited devastating counter-attacks throughout Egypt. 69 Coptic churches were severely damaged, more than 200 Christian schools, kindergardens, businesses and houses were also attacked and destroyed. The number of Copts in Egypt has fallen from 20 to less then 10 per cent since the 1950’s. They have been the target of Muslim radicals particularly since the fall of Hosni Mubarak, in February 2011, pushing ever more Copts into exile. This last wave of violence was unprecedented. Even Christian schools attended mostly by Muslim children were burned to the grown.
