I have always known that my inner life is as real as the outer world and the only things I really have are the inside.
How can I use photography to probe the inner life?
How can I name and express them?
I chose to look through a square window because it has a naturally balanced shape and the vignetting brings depth to the vision, isolating it from the context.
Focusing on certain areas of the image and the diffusion of surfaces is similar to the pinhole shooting technique, but this effect, for better control, I apply after shooting the subject reflected by a metal mirror that brings optical distortions equalizing the two worlds on one side and another of the thin surface. In the distortion of the portrait of the person looking at me from the other side, I find details of my experience every time.
My self-portraits speak of emotions and of the divided self, that is, of what prevents us from always feeling at home with ourselves. I use only a few colors with which I get contrast and dynamics between the elements of the composition, these being important in my photos because my emotions have different colors.
Most of the time I can identify myself with the image of the person looking at me from the other side.
