After days of violent social unrest most of eastern Libya is independent of Muammar el Qaddafi's rule. The Libyan leader remains entrenched in his bunker in Tripoli from where he is ordering Libyan military still under his command and foreign mercenaries to resist and attack all elements of the rebellion. The number of dead and wounded cannot be verified but ranges from hundreds to thousands. Thousands of refugees have crossed the border from Libya to go to Tunisia. Much of Bangladesh's people and people of black Africa and Egypt. According to UNHCR, 75,000 refugees have returned to Tunisia.
