From Here: Not From Here

“From Here: Not From Here” showcases combining native and non-native Botanicals. In these images, I have grown and taken apart the flowers and reworked them repeatedly into new displays that explore the relationship between native and non-native botanicals, the passage of time, and the decay that comes with it representing the decay non-native plants can cause to a region. By using the locally sourced neighborhood botanicals and having a very difficult time sourcing California wildflowers, I tracked down seeds from Tree of Life Nursery in San Juan Capistrano (Native seeds are also difficult to find as loads of California wildflowers seeds sold online are in fact non-native!) and I grew my own flowers to photograph, and compared how they appeared in analog versus digital photography.
