These images are a continuing exploration of embroidery on found photography, offering these old discarded portraits and landscapes new life, new energy, and even a potent medicine to help heal them. These analog objects have moved through time, to meet me in the present, and in that way I feel they are sacred. Embroidery is a precise and gentle craft and as I make these new images, I experience both an intimacy and an intuition about what each image needs to be transformed by the alchemy of needle and thread. I offer designs based on old myths, or botanical plants, or symbols of alchemy. I use vintage thread to connect to the past and the present in my work, and feel they resonate beyond time once complete.
