I want to create a work based on the way of perceiving the world of machine vision. By visualising the working process of a surveillance camera, I want to show the order of "seeing", which is usually invisible by naked eyes but real, and how much we are now surrounded by sensing machines. How do we make sense of the world? Now we are not the only ones looking at the world. Machines are looking at the world too, and they are no longer just looking at things, they are actively intervening in our daily lives. I would like to make a work that makes people stop for a moment and think about who they are being watched by, about what these "images" that surround us are all about, and reconsider the meaning of watching.
The art work ‘850nm’, which is named after the 850nm wavelength of light, which means that it is a photograph made from the invisible infrared light emitted by security cameras. I focused on the non-human perspective of the photograph, from a mechanical point of view rather than the human perspective.The camera used to take the photographs was starts as ordinary digital SLR camera that then modified to automatically take pictures only when it reacted to a motion sensor, just like a surveillance camera.The photographs were combined with multiple layers together to create a work of art.
