"The Tortured"

"The Tortured" is a photo series dedicated to women and children who have been sexually abused and tortured by Russian soldiers since the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The flower Kala is a symbol of tenderness and feminine beauty, in this series it is imagined as truncated and mutilated. Each flower here symbolizes women, young girls, children and the terrible emotions they have had to go through. I used red and black as the colors of blood and losses. While shooting I thought: "God, how beautiful it is! God, what a terrible reason to shoot this!"
