These images are an undeveloped continuation of the previously submitted Amplitudes of Self Preservation.
This project is a personal reflection on my journey toward equilibrium as a free, dynamic and feminine self. I oscillate between states of surrender and resignation as a means of self-preservation. I connect with the raw earth in her jagged truth as witness and inspiration. The illuminated self knows, but I do not know yet, so I surrender for a taste of breath that is not mine. I am tethered by forces seemingly beyond my control and I resign myself to them just so that I can take refuge inside the safe place of who I think I am supposed to be. Just as the barren earth surrenders to the dry wind, maybe it finds freedom in the sensation of movement, maybe that is all there is. Maybe nothing will grow, but maybe it is growing so slowly that it is beyond perception. I will lean into resignation if I have to, I will dig through the rubble littering the cave of my heart until I find someone who knows me. Tattered and torn, even tethered, she will still find a way to fly, until one day she is free!
