"Milan under lockdown"
In 2019 Milan has welcomed up to 11 millions of visitors and few months later it was totally empty.
Due to Covid 19 pandemic, authorities worldwilde, as well as the Italian government, ordered the immediate lockdown of all countries in the effort to slow down the spread of the virus. These restrictions confined millions people to their homes.
Schools and playgrounds where shut down and hospitality and travel were banned.
We were forced to change the perception of everything had always surrounded us.
The world's changed.
Streets and squares have been emptied and the absence of human presence has totally changed their image.
Together with the emptying of the historic centers in the cities we have experienced a great change: atmosphere, social relationships and everyone the life-styles. The metropolis has slowed down its run.
Suddenly everything stopped, just like in snapshots.
Silence has taken over the words.
This is exactly the context in which I processed my photographic project. A desire to tell, through pictures, the iconic places of Milan during the pandemic.
