I started this project as a way to visualize the calm and fear that loneliness brings me. To do this I would leave my apartment after midnight and drive into the Massachusetts suburbs. I would drive around until I found a place where I truly felt like I was the only human being in the area.
I focused on the character of the houses, how they coexisted with the vegetation, and how artificial light sources from inside and outside the houses painted the land. When the three came together they created these theatrical and lonely stages that reminded me of old cinema. With this I was able to create pictures that were both beautiful and unsettling.
