'Essentially Connected' encompasses a selection of twenty captured moments during an early morning walk after the rain.
At first, a misty cloud concealed the mountain. Then, as the sun rose, a glistening microcosm of intricately connected spider webs were revealed.
I followed the delicate rain-spangled filaments from one fynbos plant to another - a mesmerising experience. Knowing that within a few hours the warm sun would evaporate the myriad droplets, made the discovery of nature's work of art even more special. Contemporary environmental art celebrates the connection between nature and the artist, using natural materials. Here, the natural world and spiders in particular, were the creators.
The image titles were inspired by our increasingly interconnected life-worlds, as well as by an extract from Walt Whitman's poem, "A Noiseless Patient Spider".
