Escapism

The impending climate catastrophe, the pandemic, the social upheavals and now also a war in Europe - the world I live in seems to be changing radically. Real solutions for the various dilemmas humanity facing today aren’t in sight and that perplexed and depresses me. More and more, I feel the need to take a step back from this absurd reality and to deal with what I am experiencing. It's a kind of creative escapism, to distract myself a bit and lose myself in my creative activities. My current project is my paper theatre, a self-made miniature stage on which I perform as a mini papercutted actor. On this tiny stage I can create surrealistic scenes, which my emotions, feelings, and dreams express.
