Eagle Hunters

A series of images taken in the Bayan-Olgii region in the extreme West of Mongolia. Documenting Kazakh nomads during their Spring migration I was drawn to the relationship the nomads have with their eagles and how this knowledge is passed through the generations. I was particularly drawn to a young girl, Damel who was learning how to care and train her eagle, learning from her father, a well known eagle hunter named Sohkan. These images are of Damel, her father and close relatives with their eagles.
